Tori Amos is an American singer-songwriter, pianist, and composer. She has released 16 studio albums, 5 live albums, and 7 compilations. Born Myra Ellen Amos in Newton, North Carolina, but raised in Maryland, she began playing the piano at age two and had her first composition published at age five. At age 11 she was accepted to the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, the youngest person ever admitted. After a brief stint as the lead singer of a pop band in Los Angeles during the late 1980s, she began to focus on her solo career. Early Career
In 1992, Amos released her debut album Little Earthquakes. The album was critically acclaimed upon its release, and featured songs such as “Crucify”, “Silent All These Years”, and “Winter”. Its success enabled her to tour extensively throughout Europe and the United States. Her follow-up album Under the Pink was released in 1994 and reached number 12 on the Billboard 200 chart.
