Who is Tory Lanez? Tory Lanez is a Canadian rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He first gained recognition after the release of his debut single, “Say It”. Tory Lanez was born Daystar Peterson on July 27th, 1992 in Toronto, Ontario. His parents are both pastors who moved to Canada from Trinidad and Tobago. Lanez attended various schools including Cesar Chavez High School in Stockton, California before dropping out and eventually returning to Toronto.Musical Career In 2009, Lanez started his music career by releasing his first mixtape titled T.L 2 T.O. In 2011, he released a collaborative mixtape with fellow Toronto rappers called Fargo Fridays. In 2015, he released two mixtapes: Lost Cause and The New Toronto. His debut studio album I Told You was released in 2016 and debuted at number 4 on the US Billboard 200 chart.
