Who is Wali?

Wali is an Indonesian pop singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Born Taufik Waliany in Jakarta on August 19, 1985, he rose to fame after being declared the winner of the Indonesian Idol season four competition in 2008. After his victory on the show, he released his self-titled debut album in 2009, which spawned several hit singles including Doaku Untukmu Sayang, Cinta Luar Biasa, and Cariku.

Musical Career

In 2011, Wali released his second studio album Gemilang, which included the single Lebih Baik. The album was a success, and he embarked on a nationwide tour in its support. In 2012, he released a compilation album titled The Best Of Wali, which featured his most popular singles from both albums. In addition to his studio work, Wali has also collaborated with other musicians, including fellow Indonesian Idol contestants Maia Estianty and Syahrini. He also wrote a song for singer Agnes Monica's sixth studio album, Agnez Mo.

Awards and Accomplishments

Wali has won numerous awards throughout his career. In 2009, he won the Anugerah Musik Indonesia award for Best Pop Solo Artist and the Panasonic Award for Most Popular Song of the Year. He also won three awards at the Indonesian Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards in 2010: favorite male singer, favorite song (""CintaLuarBiasa""), and favorite collaboration (""DoakuUntukmuSayang""). In 2011, he won the Anugerah Planet Muzik award for Most Popular Male Artist.
