A-Trak is an innovative Canadian Hip-hop/EDM DJ/producer who is one of the world’s most renowned DJs. Earning his stripes early on, the artist has won various prestigious Canadian & worldwide DJ competitions. At the age of fifteen, he took the DMC world championship title and became the first person to win the title at that age. Early years Alain Macklovitch was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, to a Moroccan Jewish mother and Jewish father. His elder brother David played guitar and was attached to various bands throughout high school. Hanging around his brother & friends was the start of his intrigue into music. To begin, he took his parent’s record deck and tried his hand at scratching. He loved the Hip-Hop scene and was inspired by many hip-hop artists. As his turn-table experience increased, he entered the DMC world championships and became the youngest person to take the title. Career Over time, he began listening to European EDM, experimenting he would fuse hip-hop & electronic music, taking a 13obpm track and adding a rap vocal over the top. His commanding sets helped secure sets in Canada and North America. Starting his label “Fool’s Gold Records” he released “Dirty South Dance” vol: 1 & 2, a fusion of different styles which alleviated his career. The expressive DJ became a touring DJ for artists, and in 2014 toured with one of hip-hops finest, Kanye West. A-Trak has played at some of the world’s leading festivals, such as Glastonbury, Coachella, and Lollapalooza, to name a few. He has won many awards, the most impressive being a Grammy nomination for his collaboration with Armand van Helden for “Barbara Streisand”. The essence of being a live DJ is playing an unpredictable set. A-Trak’s professionalism and gift as a DJ are that he can do just that and ignite the crowd.
