Atreyu is an American post-hardcore band from Orange County, California. The band's name was taken from the character of the same name in the novel ""The Neverending Story"" which was written by Michael Ende. The band was formed in 1998 and consists of vocalist Alex Varkatzas, lead guitar Marc McKnight, rhythm guitar Dan Jacobs, bass Travis Miguel and drummer/vocalist Brandon Saller. Atreyu's style is described as metalcore, post-hardcore and melodic hardcore.
Early Years and Rise to Fame
Atreyu released their debut album Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses in 2002. The album was well received and gained them a small following. The band released their follow up album The Curse in 2004 which was a commercial success and reached number 25 on the Billboard 200 chart. This album also featured their first music video for the song ""Right Side of the Bed"". The band continued to release albums such as A Death Grip on Yesterday (2006), Lead Sails Paper Anchor (2007) and Congregation of the Damned (2009).
