Baky is a 25-year-old Haitian singer and songwriter who has been making waves in the Caribbean music scene. His style fuses traditional Haitian music and contemporary pop, creating sounds that are both unique and familiar. He started performing when he was just 14 years old, and since then, he's performed all over Haiti, as well as in France, Canada, and the United States.Early Career
Baky grew up surrounded by music, as his father was a music teacher. He quickly developed an affinity for rhythm and melody, and soon started to write his own songs. His early work drew inspiration from traditional Haitian styles like compas and konpa, while also incorporating elements of reggae, zouk, and rap. In 2010, Baky released the single “Gade Kijan Mwen Ye” (Look How I Am), which quickly became a hit in Haiti. This success led to performances at some of the biggest events in Haiti, including festivals like Carnival and Raké Dansé. In 2012, he released his second album, Aime Moi (Love Me), which featured a duet with fellow Haitian artist Rutshelle Guillaume.
