Belinda Carlisle is an American singer, songwriter and author best known for being the lead vocalist of the Go-Go's, one of the most successful all-female bands of all time. Born in Hollywood in 1958, Carlisle started her musical career in 1977 as the lead vocalist of the punk rock band The Germs. After the band split up, she joined the Go-Go's in 1978 and achieved international fame with their debut album, Beauty and The Beat (1981). The band's hits include 'Our Lips Are Sealed', 'We Got the Beat' and 'Head Over Heels'. In 1984, Carlisle left the band and embarked on a successful solo career with her hit singles 'Mad About You', 'Heaven Is a Place on Earth' and 'Leave a Light On'.
