The band consists of lead singer and guitarist Adrianne Lenker, guitarist Buck Meek, bassist Max Oleartchik, and drummer James Krivchenia. Their music has been described as folk rock, lo-fi, alt-country, and indie rock. Big Thief has released four full-length albums and one EP since forming in 2014.
Big Thief's Early Years
Big Thief's origins can be traced back to 2014 when Lenker and Meek met at a mutual friend's house in Rhode Island. After playing together for a few months, they decided to form a band with Oleartchik and Krivchenia joining shortly after. In 2015 they released their debut album Masterpiece on Saddle Creek Records. The album garnered critical acclaim and was praised for its raw emotion and delicate songwriting.
