Bushido (born Anis Mohamed Youssef Ferchichi on 28 September 1978) is a German rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. Bushido rose to fame in 2000 with the release of his debut album Vom Bordstein bis zur Skyline. He has since sold over 1.5 million records in Germany and is considered one of the most successful German rappers.
Early Life
Bushido was born to Tunisian immigrant parents in Berlin-Tempelhof. His father was a strict Muslim, while his mother was a supportive and loving figure in his life. Growing up in the district of Berlin-Hellersdorf, Bushido faced a difficult childhood due to his family’s financial struggles.
Career Beginnings
In 1999, Bushido founded the rap label ersguterjunge (“good guys”). He released his first solo album Vom Bordstein bis zur Skyline (“From the Curb to the Skyline”) in 2000 and it spawned two hit singles “Sonne” and “Für Immer Jung”. The album was certified gold by the Bundesverband Musikindustrie (BVMI) for more than 100,000 copies sold.
Rise to Fame
In 2003, Bushido released his second studio album Electro Ghetto which featured the singles “Für Euch Alle” and “Gangsta Rap Kings”. The album peaked at number 2 on the German Albums Chart and was certified platinum by the BVMI for more than 200,000 copies sold.
Recent Projects
In 2018, Bushido released his ninth studio album Mythos which was certified gold by the BVMI for more than 100,000 copies sold. Bushido also released several mixtapes such as Carlo Cokxxx Nutten 2 (2005), CCN3 (2006), 7 (2009), Jenseits von Gut und Böse (2012), Sonny Black (2015), CCN4 (2016) and Mythos & Legenden (2017). In addition to his music career, Bushido has appeared in several films such as Der Wixxer (2004) and Unterwegs nach Atlantis (2010). He also owns a clothing brand called “JBG”.
