Busy Signal, born Reanno Gordon on June 28th 1979, is a Jamaican reggae and dancehall artist. He is also known by the alias Mr. Versatile or The Voice. His career in music began in 2004 after he was released from prison. Since then, he has gone on to collaborate with some of the biggest names in music, including Sean Paul, Major Lazer, Flexican and Machel Montano.
Early Life
Busy Signal was born in Saint Ann Parish in Jamaica but grew up in Kingston. He credits his father for his musical influences, as he was a singer himself. As a teenager, Busy Signal spent time in the studio with friends recording various tracks. It was during this time that he developed his musical style of combining dancehall with reggae.
Rise to Fame
In 2004, Busy Signal released his first single ""Step Out"" which quickly became a hit in Jamaica and throughout the Caribbean. This led to him signing with Turf Music Entertainment in 2004 and recording his debut album Step Out. The album featured several hit singles which helped to establish him as a major player in the dancehall scene.
