Celtic Thunder is an Irish singing group that was formed in 2007. The group consists of five members: Damian McGinty, Keith Harkin, Emma Ni Bhraonain, Ryan Kelly and Neil Byrne. They are best known for their use of traditional Irish instruments such as the fiddle and tin whistle and for performing traditional Irish songs such as “Danny Boy” and “Carrickfergus”. Celtic Thunder has also released several albums with contemporary cover songs such as Billy Joel’s “Piano Man” and Jordin Sparks’ “No Air”.
History of Celtic Thunder
The members of Celtic Thunder first came together in 2007 for a television show on PBS. The show was a success and the group went on to do several tours and released several successful albums. Since then, Celtic Thunder has appeared on The Today Show, The View and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. In 2011, the group released their fourth album titled “Mythology” which reached number one on the US Billboard World Music Charts.
