Cherish is an American singer-songwriter from the city of Atlanta. She rose to fame in the late 2000s with her debut single “Do It To It” which was featured on the Step Up 2: The Streets soundtrack. She has since released several albums and singles and has collaborated with many artists including Snoop Dogg, Keyshia Cole, and T.I. Her music is characterized by a blend of R&B, hip hop, pop, and soul influences. Her lyrics often draw on themes of love, relationships and female empowerment. She has been nominated for two Grammy Awards and has won numerous awards throughout her career.
Early Life
Cherish was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1982. She was raised in a musical family and was exposed to music from a young age. She began writing songs in her teens and eventually formed a girl group called Lady Glamour alongside her sister Farrah Franklin. The group released an album in 2001 but ultimately disbanded shortly afterwards.
Career
In 2006, Cherish released her debut single “Do It To It” which featured Sean Paul of the YoungBloodz. The lead single “Do It To It” peaked at number 38 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In 2017 she released her fourth studio album 4Ever which featured the single “Brand New” featuring Yo Gotti.
