Citizen Soldier came into existence in 2016 when lead vocalist Jake Segura wrote the lyrics to "Let It Burn" during his stay in a psychiatric hospital. Currently working as a clinical therapist, Segura incorporates intensely emotional themes surrounding mental health into the band's music. Their aim is to deliver a relatable message that challenges stigmatization and fosters a sense of group therapy.
Hailing from Salt Lake City, Utah, Citizen Soldier comprises not only Jake Segura but also guitarists Matt Duffney and Kooper Hanosky, bassist/keyboardist Wonitta, and drummer Kyle Persell. Together, they form a cohesive unit dedicated to their musical endeavors and the important message they convey.
In 2017, after releasing a few singles, the band initially put out an EP before unveiling their first album, "Relentless," in 2019. They followed up with "Down the Rabbit Hole" in 2020, and in 2021 and 2022, they released a two-part album called "This Is Your Sign," with "Part I" and "Part II" respectively.
In May 2022, Citizen Soldier announced the upcoming release of their fifth album, "Scarecrow," which features 18 songs.
Since 2020, the band has distinguished itself by consistently releasing new music. They have opted to release the songs from their albums as singles before compiling them into a complete album.
