Her first contact with music was at the age of 8 in a local church choir. As she got older, she became interested in jazz, classical music and bossa nova. She started taking private singing lessons at the age of 14. By the time she was 18, she had already moved to Rio de Janeiro to pursue a career as a professional singer.
