Darren Espanto is a 18-year-old Filipino singer, songwriter, actor and TV personality. His career began in 2013 when he joined the popular singing competition The Voice Kids Philippines. He finished as first runner-up in the show, gaining national fame and recognition.

Early Life

Darren Espanto was born on May 24th, 2001 in Calgary, Canada to Filipino immigrants. He moved back to Manila with his family at the age of 10 and soon began taking singing lessons. He has stated that his inspiration to pursue a music career was drawn from watching Celine Dion perform live during her concert in Manila in 2008.

Career Beginnings

In 2013, Darren Espanto participated in the Philippine singing competition The Voice Kids Philippines at the age of 12. He wowed both audiences and judges with his impressive vocal range and high notes. Despite not emerging as the winner of the show, he was able to garner an audience for himself and soon rose to prominence in the Philippine music industry.

Breakthrough Success

Following The Voice Kids Philippines, Darren Espanto signed with Star Magic and released his debut single ""Dying Inside To Hold You"" which became an instant hit in the Philippines. His first album ""Darren"", which included popular tracks such as ""Love Me Now"" and ""Kahit Na"" was certified Platinum within 5 months of its release.

Recent Projects

In 2017, Darren Espanto collaborated with other Filipino artists such as Inigo Pascual, James Reid and KZ Tandingan on his singles ""Options"", ""Kasama Kang Tumanda"" and ""Tayo"". He also released his second album ""Be With Me"" which featured popular tracks such as ""Make It Last Forever"" and ""Parang Tayo Pero Hindi"".
