Who Is Eric Benét?

Eric Benét Jordan is a Grammy-nominated American R&B singer-songwriter, actor, and record producer. He is best known for his hit single “Spend My Life With You” and for his role in the Showtime series “Soul Food”. Born on October 15th, 1966 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Eric was the middle child of five siblings. Music was always a major part of his childhood as his father was an amateur jazz musician and his mother was a gospel singer.

Eric Benét's Career

In 1992, Eric signed with Warner Bros. Records and released his self-titled debut album in 1996. The album spawned the hit single “Spend My Life With You” which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The album was certified Platinum in the United States. Eric released two more albums with Warner Bros., A Day in the Life (1999) and Hurricane (2001). In 2008 he signed with Geffen Records and released Love & Life in 2009. After a hiatus from music, Eric returned in 2016 with his sixth studio album “Lost in Time”. He has also been featured on songs with other artists including India.Arie, Tamia, and Kem.

Eric Benét's Awards and Nominations

Eric was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for his song “Still With You” from the album A Day in the Life in 2000. He was also nominated for two Soul Train Music Awards for Best R&B/Soul Album Male for A Day in the Life (2000) and Best R&B/Soul Single Male for “Spend My Life With You” (1999). Eric has won two NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Duo or Group (2001) and Outstanding New Artist (2000). He is also an active member of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (NARAS).

Eric Benét's Personal Life

In 2011, Eric married actress Manuela Testolini. They have two daughters together and reside in Los Angeles, California. Eric is an avid philanthropist and supports several charities including MusiCares, Keep a Child Alive, and American Red Cross among others.
