Early Life & Career
John Ondrasik was born in Los Angeles on January 7th 1965. In high school he learned to play the piano and started writing songs. After graduating from UCLA with a degree in economics, he worked as a financial analyst while pursuing music on the side. He eventually signed a record deal with Aware Records and released his first album America Town in 2000.
Breakthrough Success
His breakthrough came in 2002 with his second album America Town. The lead single “Superman (It’s Not Easy)” became an instant hit and reached #14 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album was certified platinum in the US and went on to sell over one million copies worldwide. He followed this success with 2004's The Battle for Everything which spawned another hit “100 Years”. His latest album Bookmarks was released in 2009.
