Axwell's Music Career

Axwell is a Swedish DJ, record producer, and remixer. He is best known as one-third of the iconic dance music group Swedish House Mafia alongside Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello. Over the years, he has released some of the most acclaimed house and EDM tracks of all time. He has also collaborated with other artists such as Laidback Luke, Max Vangeli, and Angello.

Early Life

Axwell was born Axel Christofer Hedfors in 1977 in Vanersborg, Sweden. He began playing drums at age 7 and went on to develop an interest in electronic music when he was around 13 or 14 years old. He started producing his own songs at age 15 and soon after joined a band called Buy Now.

Rise to Fame

Axwell's big break came when he began working with Steve Angello in 2000. Together they created two record labels – Pickadoll and Axtone Records – and released several successful singles. In 2007, Axwell released his first solo single “I Found U” and it became a huge hit in Europe. Later that year, Axwell and Angello formed Swedish House Mafia with Sebastien Ingrosso. The trio went on to become one of the most successful EDM acts of all time, releasing several chart-topping singles and albums.

Solo Projects

In 2012, Swedish House Mafia announced their split and Axwell went on to pursue a solo career. He released several singles and EPs including “Center of the Universe” (2013), “Waiting For So Long” (2014) and “Barricade” (2015). In 2017, he released his debut studio album “More Than You Know” which peaked at number 1 on the US Dance/Electronic chart.

Influence

Axwell has been credited with playing a major role in popularizing EDM music around the world. He has won several awards including International Dance Music Awards for Best Progressive Track (2012), Best European DJ (2011) and has been nominated for multiple Grammy Awards for his work with Swedish House Mafia.
