Who Is Blood Orange?

Blood Orange, born Devonté Hynes in 1985 in East London, is an English singer-songwriter, record producer, and director. He originally gained attention as a multi-instrumentalist and composer when he was playing in the band Test Icicles with Rory Atwell. In 2007, he began recording under the moniker Lightspeed Champion and released three albums before going solo as Blood Orange.

Blood Orange's first solo album, Coastal Grooves, was released in 2011. His second album, Cupid Deluxe, was released two years later and received positive reviews from critics. In 2016 he released his third album Freetown Sound to critical acclaim. He has collaborated with many well-known artists like Solange Knowles, FKA Twigs and Kali Uchis. He also released a film entitled “Tales from a Darkened Room” in 2020.
