Capleton, also known as The Fireman, is a Jamaican reggae and dancehall artist renowned for his powerful vocal delivery and conscious lyrics. Born on April 13th 1967, in St. Mary’s, Jamaica, Capleton has been making music since the late 1980s. He rose to prominence in the early 1990s with his debut album I Testament.Early Career & Rise to Fame
Capleton’s career took off in the early 1990s, following his first album I Testament. His second album Prophet, released in 1995, was even more successful. It featured some of his most popular hits such as “Tour” and “Jah Jah City”. The same year, he had a major breakthrough with the release of his third album Praise Ye Jah. In 1999, he released More Fire, which included hits such as “That Day Will Come” and “Jah Is My Navigator”.Collaborations & Later Career
Capleton has collaborated with many of the biggest names in reggae and dancehall including Sizzla, Beenie Man, and Buju Banton. He has also toured extensively around the world, playing shows in Europe, Africa, Asia, and North America. In 2003 he released his fifth album Still Blazin, which featured guest appearances from Sizzla and Luciano.
