Chet Faker is an Australian singer, songwriter and producer from Melbourne. He is best known for his 2014 album 'Built on Glass', which reached number one in Australia. His 2015 album 'Work' also achieved success. His stage name was inspired by jazz trumpeter Chet Baker.

Early Life

Chet Faker was born Nicholas James Murphy on June 23, 1985 in Melbourne, Australia. He began playing piano at the age of nine and soon began to explore electronic music production. He graduated from the Victorian College of Arts in 2008.

Career

In 2012, Chet Faker released his debut EP entitled 'Thinking in Textures'. The EP received critical acclaim and was nominated for the Australian Music Prize. In 2014, he released his debut studio album 'Built on Glass', which topped the ARIA charts in Australia. He followed this up with a second album 'Work' in 2015 and a live album 'Live Sessions' in 2016.
