Christopher Joseph Isaak, better known as Chris Isaak, is an American musician and actor from Stockton, California. He is best known for his hit singles such as “Wicked Game”, “Somebody’s Crying”, and “Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing”. Throughout his career he has been nominated for numerous awards and has won several, including a Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance in 1996.
Early Life
Isaak was born on June 26, 1956 in Stockton, California. His father Joe was a forklift driver for a food company and his mother Dorothy was a potato chip factory worker. As a child he was surrounded by music; his father played the steel guitar and sang country music, while his mother played the organ in church. He began playing the guitar at age nine, taking lessons from his teacher James Burton who had previously played with Elvis Presley.
Career
In 1984 Isaak released his debut album Silvertone and it soon became a hit in Norway where it reached number one on the charts. The album featured the single “Gone Ridin’” which was featured in the David Lynch film Blue Velvet. In 1985 he released his second album Chris Isaak which spawned the single “Livin’ for Your Lover”. His third album Heart Shaped World was released in 1989 featuring the hit single “Wicked Game” which reached number 6 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and topped charts in Finland, Sweden and Norway. The following year he released San Francisco Days which featured the single “Somebody’s Cryin'” which reached number 22 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Isaak has collaborated with numerous artists throughout his career including Bonnie Raitt, Brian Setzer, Joan Baez and Imelda May. He has also appeared in various films such as Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992), Little Buddha (1993) and A Dirty Shame (2004).
