Culcha Candela is a German hip-hop and reggae group formed in 2002 in the city of Berlin. The group consists of five members: Don Cali, Marlon B., Matty Valentino, Johnny Strange and Tukka Yoot. They released their first album, Cultivation, in 2007, which was well-received by fans and critics alike. The band has since released two more albums, Move It (2009) and Von Allein (2013).

Early Life & Career

The five members of Culcha Candela first met at various hip-hop battles throughout Berlin. They decided to form a group after they realized they had similar musical interests. Their debut album, Cultivation, was released in 2007 and was met with positive reviews. The album featured collaborations with several big name artists such as Jan Delay, Xavier Naidoo and Kool Savas. The album was certified Gold for sales of over 100,000 copies.

Success & Legacy

The group followed up their successful debut album with Move It in 2009. The album peaked at number 2 on the German Albums Chart and was certified Double Platinum for sales of over 200,000 copies. Their third album, Von Allein, was released in 2013 and peaked at number 6 on the German Albums Chart.
