Daniel Richard Powter is a Canadian singer-songwriter best known for his hit single 'Bad Day'. He was born on June 25th, 1971 in Vancouver, British Columbia. He started playing piano at the age of 4 and by the time he was 6 he was studying classical music. He went on to attend McGill University in Montreal and graduated with a degree in jazz piano.
Rise To Fame
In 2002, Powter released his debut album 'I'm Your Betty', which included the singles 'Jimmy Gets High' and 'More Than I'. It was not until 2005 when he released his self-titled album 'Daniel Powter' that he gained international success. The single 'Bad Day' from this album topped charts in over 15 countries and was even used as the theme song for the American TV show 'American Idol'. In 2007, he was nominated for two Juno Awards for Best Pop Album of the Year and Artist of the Year.
