Dashboard Confessional is an American rock band from Boca Raton, Florida, formed in 1999 by singer-songwriter Chris Carrabba. The band began as a solo project of Carrabba and progressively grew into a full band with the help of a variety of musicians. Since its inception, the band has released eight studio albums, four EPs, two compilations and twenty-one singles. The group has toured extensively in both the United States and internationally in support of their albums.

Early Career

Chris Carrabba began writing and performing music as a solo artist in 1997 and released his first album, Swiss Army Romance, under the name Dashboard Confessional in 2000. The album was met with positive reviews from critics and fans alike. After touring in support of the album for two years, Carrabba was joined by guitarist John Lefler, bassist Scott Schoenbeck and drummer Mike Marsh. This lineup of the band would go on to record the 2002 album The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most.

Rise to Fame

The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most was met with critical acclaim from both fans and critics. The lead single from the album “Screaming Infidelities” was a major hit on alternative radio charts in the United States. Following the success of the album, Dashboard Confessional went on to tour extensively throughout 2003.
