Introduction

Diamond Rio is an American country music band formed in 1989 in Nashville, Tennessee. The band is composed of six members: Gene Johnson (mandolin, guitar and background vocals), Jimmy Olander (lead guitar and background vocals), Marty Roe (lead vocals), Dan Truman (keyboards and background vocals), Brian Prout (drums and background vocals) and Dana Williams (bass guitar and background vocals).

Career

The band released its self-titled debut album in 1991, which produced two hit singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart: ""Meet in the Middle"" at No. 1 and ""Mirror, Mirror"" at No. 12. The album was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Diamond Rio's second album was Close to the Edge in 1992, which earned the band its first gold certification. The album had three Top 10 hits on the Hot Country Songs chart: ""In a Week or Two"", ""Love a Little Stronger"", and ""It's All In Your Head"".

Discography

Diamond Rio has released two Greatest Hits compilations, one in 1999 and another in 2003. They also released a Christmas album titled A Diamond Rio Christmas in 2008. Their most recent studio release was I Made It in 2011.

Diamond Rio has won the Vocal Group of the Year award from the Academy of Country Music (ACM) three times: in 1998, 2000 and 2001. The group was also inducted into the Grand Ole Opry on March 4, 1998.
