Who Is DJ Neptune?

DJ Neptune is a Nigerian international disc jockey, music producer and songwriter. He is also known as ‘the mix-tape king’. He has been a professional musician since 2005, and has achieved success with his signature sound – a blend of Afrobeats and hip-hop. He has performed at numerous international festivals and events, including the Glastonbury Festival in England.

Early Life & Career Beginnings

Born Imohiosen Patrick in 1985, he was raised in Lagos, Nigeria. He first began to make a name for himself as a DJ in 2005, playing at clubs and events throughout Lagos and other parts of Nigeria. He eventually gained a loyal following as well as the respect of other DJs who collaborated with him.

Rise to Fame

In 2009, DJ Neptune released his first mixtape which featured some of the biggest Nigerian artists. This mixtape set the foundation for his career and earned him the nickname ‘the mix-tape king’. Since then, he has released several other mixtapes and albums which have topped the charts in Nigeria and around the world. He has also collaborated with some of the biggest names in the music industry such as Mayorkun, Davido, Kizz Daniel, and Mr Eazi.

International Recognition

In 2017, DJ Neptune made history as the first Nigerian DJ to perform at the Glastonbury Festival in England. Since then, he has toured extensively across Europe and North America, playing at some of the biggest festivals in these regions. He has been praised by fans around the world for bringing his signature blend of Afrobeats and hip-hop to an international audience.
