Elliot John Gleave (born 20 June 1982), known professionally as Example, is an English musician, singer, rapper, songwriter and record producer. He first found success with the release of his second studio album, Won't Go Quietly, which peaked at number four on the UK Albums Chart and peaked at number one on the UK Dance Chart. His follow-up album, Playing in the Shadows, went straight to number one on the UK Albums Chart and featured four top 10 singles. His third studio album, The Evolution of Man, was released in 2012 and became his third consecutive number one album on the UK Albums Chart.
Early Life
Example was born in West London, England on 20 June 1982. He attended ADT College in the nearby town of Watford and graduated from there with a HND in Media and Performance.
Career
Example's career began as a rapper under his real name Elliot Gleave. He then adopted the stage name of 'Example', which was taken from his secondary school's tagline: “Be An Example”. In 2009 he released his debut album What We Made which featured two top 10 singles; “Watch The Sun Come Up” and “Won't Go Quietly”. His second studio album Won't Go Quietly peaked at number four on the UK Albums Chart and number one on the UK Dance Chart. His third studio album The Evolution Of Man was released in 2012 and became his third consecutive number one album on the UK Albums Chart. Example has also collaborated with some of the biggest names in music such as Calvin Harris, Bastille and Rudimental.

Example is best known for his distinctive rapping style which combines elements of grime and electro house music.
