Foals – British Indie Rock Band
Foals is a British indie rock band from Oxford, England. Formed in 2005, the band consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Yannis Philippakis, drummer Jack Bevan, bassist Jimmy Smith, keyboardist Edwin Congreave and guitarist Walter Gervers. The band’s debut album Antidotes was released in 2008 to critical acclaim. It was followed by the albums Total Life Forever (2010), Holy Fire (2013) and What Went Down (2015). Their fifth album Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost – Part 1 was released in 2019.
Early Years of Foals
Foals was founded in 2005, when Philippakis and Bevan were studying at the University of Oxford. The band’s name was taken from an old English word meaning “four-legged animals”. In 2006, they released their debut single “Hummer” on the independent record label Transgressive Records. The single gained critical acclaim and the band was signed to the label. They released their debut album Antidotes in 2008 to positive reviews.
Career Highlights of Foals
In 2010, Foals released their second album Total Life Forever to critical acclaim. The album spawned the singles “Spanish Sahara”, “This Orient” and “Blue Blood”. In 2013, they released their third album Holy Fire to further critical acclaim. The album spawned the singles “My Number”, “Inhaler” and “Late Night”. In 2015, they released their fourth album What Went Down to more critical acclaim. The album spawned the singles “Mountain At My Gates” and “What Went Down”.
