Haley Reinhart Biography
Haley Elizabeth Reinhart (born September 9, 1990) is an American singer and songwriter from Wheeling, Illinois. She first gained recognition after competing on the tenth season of American Idol in 2011. After placing third in the competition, she released her debut studio album Listen Up! in 2012. Since then, she has released several singles and two additional albums: Better in 2016 and What's That Sound? in 2018. In addition to her solo career, Reinhart has collaborated with numerous other artists, including B.o.B., Kane Brown, Ariana Grande and Postmodern Jukebox.
Early Life
Reinhart was born on September 9th, 1990 in Wheeling Illinois. Growing up in a musical family, she began performing at an early age. At age 15 she was already singing at local open mics and bars with her father's band The Reed Brothers Band. She attended Prospect High School and continued to pursue music while studying music theory and vocal classes at Harper College.
Career Beginnings
In 2011 Reinhart auditioned for the tenth season of American Idol in Milwaukee. Her audition earned her a spot in the semi-finals and eventually the top 3 of the season. Following her third-place finish at the show she went on tour with the rest of the top 10 contestants to promote the show. After the tour ended she signed a deal with Interscope Records.
Listen Up!
In May 2012 Reinhart released her debut studio album Listen Up!. The album featured a mix of original material as well as covers of songs such as Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love” and Led Zeppelin’s “What Is and What Should Never Be”. The album debuted at number 17 on the Billboard 200 chart and number 5 on the Billboard Digital Albums chart.
Collaborations & Later Work
In 2013 Reinhart collaborated with B.o.B on his single “Strange Clouds” which peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. She also collaborated with Postmodern Jukebox on their cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” which charted at number 32 on the US Hot Rock Songs chart. In 2016 she released her second studio album Better which peaked at number 8 on the US Independent Albums chart. In 2018 she released her third studio album What’s That Sound? which peaked at number 5 on US Independent Albums chart.
