Who is J Hus?

J Hus is a British rapper, singer and songwriter from Stratford, East London. His real name is Momodou Jallow and he was born on May 30th 1995. He rose to fame after releasing his debut mixtape The 15th Day in 2015. His first extended play (EP) called Friendly was released in 2017 and peaked at number 7 on the UK Albums Chart. His debut studio album Common Sense was released in 2017 and reached number 6 on the UK Albums Chart. He has since released several singles that have been critically acclaimed by critics.

Career Beginnings

J Hus' career began when he released his debut mixtape The 15th Day in 2015. The mixtape was produced by Blay Vision, Tiggs Da Author and Krunchie. It featured guest appearances from artists such as Ghetts, Fekky and Moelogo. It was met with critical acclaim and was praised for its diverse sounds and styles.

Breakthrough Success

J Hus' breakthrough success came with the release of his EP Friendly in 2017. The EP was preceded by the lead single “Dem Boy Paigon” which peaked at number 34 on the UK Singles Chart. The EP also featured the singles “Did You See” and “Spirit” which both charted in the UK charts. The EP was met with critical acclaim and peaked at number 7 on the UK Albums Chart.

Debut Studio Album

J Hus' debut studio album Common Sense was released in 2017 to critical acclaim. The album featured guest appearances from artists such as Dave, Giggs and Burna Boy. It also featured production from artists such as Zeph Ellis, Tiggs Da Author, Jae5 and StarGate. The lead single from the album “Did You See” peaked at number 9 on the UK Singles Chart. The album was certified gold by the BPI for selling over 100,000 copies in the UK. It also received a nomination for Best Album at the 2018 Brit Awards.

Collaborations

J Hus has collaborated with a number of artists over his career including Dave, Giggs, Tion Wayne, Kojey Radical and Burna Boy. His collaboration with Dave titled “Samantha” peaked at number 10 on the UK Singles Chart while his collaboration with Giggs titled “Bouff Daddy” peaked at number 11 on the UK Singles Chart.
