Who is Koryn Hawthorne?

Koryn Hawthorne is an American singer, songwriter and musician from Shreveport, Louisiana. Hawthorne rose to stardom after becoming the runner-up on the 8th season of NBC’s The Voice in 2015. Since then, she has released multiple albums, singles and EPs that have been nationally recognized by the Grammy Awards and Billboard Music Awards.

Early Life & Career

Hawthorne began singing at a young age and was heavily influenced by her church choir. She began her professional music career in 2015 when she auditioned for NBC’s The Voice. She made it all the way to the finale, where she placed second. After The Voice, Hawthorne signed with RCA Inspiration and released her debut single “Bright Fire” in 2016. The single was met with critical acclaim and peaked at number 6 on the US Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart. In 2018, she released her debut album Unstoppable which earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Gospel Album.

Hawthorne has been nominated for several awards throughout her career including two Grammy Awards and three Billboard Music Awards. She has also won two Soul Train Music Awards for Best Gospel/Inspirational Song and Best Gospel/Inspirational Album. In addition to awards, Hawthorne has performed alongside renowned artists such as Kirk Franklin, Tasha Cobbs Leonard and Jonathan McReynolds.
