Early Life
Dacus was born in Richmond, Virginia in 1996. She developed an early interest in music and began playing guitar when she was around 10 years old. She started writing her own songs at the age of 15.
Career
In 2015, Dacus released her debut EP “Marry Me Tonight” on the Virginia label Egghunt Records. The same year she supported Hop Along on their tour. In 2016, she released her first studio album “No Burden” on Egghunt Records. The album was met with critical acclaim and earned Dacus a nomination for the Emerging Artist of the Year award at the 2017 Americana Music Awards. In 2017 she released two collaborative albums with fellow indie folk artists Julien Baker and Phoebe Bridgers under the name boygenius.
