About Ludwig Göransson

Ludwig Göransson is a Swedish composer and record producer from Västerås. He is best known for his work on the multi-award-winning film, Black Panther, and for his collaborations with some of the biggest names in music, including Childish Gambino, Travis Scott, Ariana Grande, and Haim. In 2018, Göransson won an Oscar for Best Original Score for his work on Black Panther.

Early Life

Göransson was born in Västerås, Sweden in 1984. From a young age, he was drawn to music and began playing guitar at the age of seven. His father was a jazz musician, which greatly influenced Göransson's own musical style. He went on to study music at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, earning a degree in composition and production in 2006. From there, he moved to Los Angeles to further pursue his career.

Career

Göransson's first major credit was as an arranger on rapper Snoop Dogg’s album Malice n Wonderland in 2009. In 2010, he composed and produced music for the comedy series Community. He continued collaborating with television composers as well as producing for artists such as Beyoncé and Haim. In 2017, he began working on Marvel's Black Panther and earned an Academy Award for Best Original Score for his work in 2018.Since then, he has been involved with numerous projects including producing Childish Gambino’s album 3.15.20 as well as producing tracks for Ariana Grande’s award-winning album Thank U Next.

Awards & Recognition

In addition to his Academy Award win, Göransson has earned many awards including multiple Emmy Awards and two Grammys for his work on Childish Gambino’s Awaken My Love! album. In 2019, he won a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score) for his work on The Mandalorian. He also won a Golden Globe for Best Original Score for Black Panther.

Philanthropy

Göransson is also committed to philanthropy and has partnered with organizations such as MusiCares and Little Kids Rock to give back to his community. He also works with local schools to provide music education to children who may not otherwise have access to it.
