Luke Robert Hemmings is an Australian singer, songwriter, and musician. He is best known as the lead vocalist of the 5 Seconds of Summer pop-rock band. He was born on July 16, 1996 in Sydney, Australia. He grew up in a musical family, with his father playing guitar and his mother singing.
Early Career
As a teenager, Hemmings was inspired by punk rock music and began writing his own songs. He formed a band with some friends in high school, which was eventually named 5 Seconds of Summer. The band released their first EP Unplugged in 2011 and quickly gained popularity among their peers. In 2014, they released their first full-length album 5 Seconds of Summer, which debuted at the number one spot on the US Billboard 200 chart. The album spawned several hit singles including “She Looks So Perfect” and “Amnesia”.
Rise to Fame
Following the success of their debut album, 5 Seconds of Summer went on to tour around the world. They have performed at major music festivals such as Reading & Leeds Festival and Lollapalooza.
