Who is Marc E. Bassy?
Marc E. Bassy is an American singer and songwriter from San Francisco. He started off singing in church as a child and was eventually signed to Republic Records. His first album was released in January 2017 and was well received by critics. His second album, PMD, was released in 2019.
Early Life
Born Marc Griffin, Bassy grew up in a musical family in San Francisco. He started singing in church when he was very young and by the time he was 17, he had already started writing his own music. He attended the California State University at Northridge, where he studied music production.
Career
After graduating from college, Bassy moved to Los Angeles where he wrote songs for artists such as Chris Brown and Tyga. In 2013 he signed a record deal with Republic Records and released his debut single, “You & Me”. The single achieved moderate success and was followed by the release of his first EP, Only The Poets, in 2014. In 2016 he released his second EP, Groovy People, which featured guest appearances from G-Eazy and Kyle. The EP peaked at number 5 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart.
Latest Projects
Bassy's first full-length album, Gossip Columns, was released in January 2017 and received positive reviews from critics. His second album, PMD, was released in 2019 and featured collaborations with Kehlani and G-Eazy. The album debuted at number 6 on the Billboard Top R&B Albums chart.
