Marisela is a Mexican-American singer-songwriter. She has been performing Latin music since the 1980s and has released several studio albums and singles. She has earned numerous awards, including two Latin Grammy nominations. Marisela is known for her passion and emotive lyrics, which often touch on themes of love, heartbreak, and female empowerment.

Early Life & Career

Marisela was born in Los Angeles, California on July 29th, 1964. She began singing as a child and released her debut single in 1982. In 1984, she released her first full-length album, titled Mujer de Carne y Hueso. The album was certified gold in Mexico and earned her several awards at the Lo Nuestro Awards in 1985. Throughout the late 80s and early 90s, Marisela continued to tour extensively and release albums. She gained wider recognition with the release of her fifth studio album, Desesperada in 1990. The album spawned several hit singles and earned her an MTV Video Music Award for Best New Artist in Latin America.

Recent Years

In the 2000s, Marisela continued to tour and release albums. In 2007, she released the album La Diferencia which was certified gold in Mexico and earned her a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Album. In 2013, she released a compilation album titled Grandes Exitos en Vivo which earned her another Latin Grammy nomination for Best Long Form Music Video. She also toured extensively throughout North America with the Despedida Tour in 2019.

Marisela has collaborated with numerous artists throughout her career including Alejandro Fernández, Cristian Castro, Juan Gabriel, Luis Miguel, and Vicente Fernández.
