Early Life
Pat Benatar was born Patricia Mae Andrzejewski on January 10, 1953 in Brooklyn, New York. She was raised in Moon Township, Pennsylvania and attended Moon Area High School. She studied theater and opera at the University of New Haven in Connecticut.
Career
Benatar started her singing career in 1975. She signed a recording contract with Chrysalis Records in 1979 and released her debut album In the Heat of the Night in 1979. The album spawned four hit singles: “Heartbreaker”, “We Live for Love”, “If You Think You Know How to Love Me”, and “You Better Run”. Her second album Crimes of Passion (1980) was a massive success and featured the hit singles “Hit Me with Your Best Shot”, “Treat Me Right”, and “Hell Is for Children”. Her third album Precious Time (1981) featured the hit single “Fire and Ice” which won her a Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. Her fourth album Get Nervous (1982) featured the hits “Shadows of the Night” and “Love Is a Battlefield” which also won her a Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. In 1983 she released her fifth album Live from Earth which featured live versions of some of her greatest hits.
Personal Life
Benatar married her guitarist Neil Giraldo in 1982. The couple have two daughters named Haley Egeana and Hana Julianne Giraldo. The couple currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
