Phillipa Anne Soo is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. She is best known for originating the role of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton in the Broadway musical Hamilton. She made her Broadway debut in 2012 in the musical Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, and performed in the off-Broadway production of The Parisian Woman in 2017. She also appeared in a variety of television shows and films, including The Code and the Hulu series The Path.
Early Life & Education
Phillipa Soo was born in Libertyville, Illinois on May 31, 1990. She attended LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in New York City. After graduating from high school she attended the Juilliard School, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2012.
Career
In 2014, Soo originated the role of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton in the musical Hamilton on Broadway. She received a nomination for the Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical for her performance. In 2016, she appeared on NBC's The Wiz Live! as Addaperle, and then starred as Amalia Balash in the musical adaptation of She Loves Me at Roundabout Theatre Company. In 2018, she co-starred with Josh Radnor and Marisa Tomei in the Amazon Studios film The Kindergarten Teacher.

Soo married actor Steven Pasquale on June 24, 2017. They have one son together.
