Biography of Preta Gil

Preta Gil, born Gillean de Lima in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on February 24th, 1976, is a Brazilian singer, songwriter and actor. He is the son of singer and politician Gilberto Gil. From an early age, he had a great interest in music and began working as a DJ at the age of 16. Preta's musical career began in 1997 when he released his first album “Não Fique Triste”. He went on to record five more albums between 2003 and 2011. His music is a mix of reggae, samba, rock, funk and afrobeat, creating a unique soundscape. His lyrics are often inspired by themes such as love, friendship, solidarity and the environment.
