The Success Story of RAC

About RAC

RAC, or André Allen Anjos, is a German-born, Portland-based producer and songwriter. He has been making music since the late 2000s and has established himself as one of the premier creators of indie electronic music. His sound is characterized by its pop sensibilities, but its roots lie in the melodic electronic production of the late '90s. He has collaborated with numerous artists from Kele to MNDR to Karl Kling and Faithless, as well as remixing tracks for Odesza.

Early Life & Career

RAC was born in Germany in 1983 but moved to the United States at a young age. He began producing music in his teens and eventually went on to study music at Columbia University. After graduating in 2006, he began working with various artists as a producer and remixer, eventually gaining enough attention to launch his solo career. In 2008, he released his debut album Don't Talk To EP on Counter Records.

Style & Influences

RAC's style of production is heavily influenced by the melodic electronica of the late '90s, as well as some of the more experimental sounds coming out of Europe at the time. His sound is characterized by its lush instrumentation and catchy hooks, making it instantly recognizable. He also draws influence from traditional pop music, often incorporating elements of it into his work. Some other influences on his work include Daft Punk, Royksopp, Air, and Radiohead.

Recent Releases & Projects

Since releasing Don't Talk To EP in 2008, RAC has released several studio albums including Strangers (2014) and EGO (2016). He has also produced remixes for a variety of artists including Foster The People, Two Door Cinema Club and Phantogram. His latest project is a collaborative album with St. Lucia called Miracle Mile (2017). He is currently working on his seventh studio album which is due for release later this year.
