RuPaul Andre Charles is an American drag queen, actor, model, singer, songwriter, and television personality. RuPaul was born in San Diego, California on November 17th, 1960 to a mother of African-American and Cherokee descent and a father of German origin. He moved to Atlanta in 1982 and began performing as a drag queen at the famous club The Other Side. He rose to prominence in the early 1990s with his single ""Supermodel (You Better Work)"", which was included on the 1993 album Supermodel of the World. Music Career
In 1996, RuPaul released his second studio album Foxy Lady. The album featured the single ""A Little Bit of Love"", which reached number one on the US Dance Charts. Other singles from the album include ""Free 2 Be...Me"" and ""Love Is Love"". In 1997, he released his third studio album Red Hot. It featured the singles ""Snapshot"" and ""Can I Get an Amen"", both of which charted in the UK Dance charts. Collaborations and Later Music Releases
In 2000, he collaborated with Elton John on the single ""Don't Go Breaking My Heart"". He also collaborated with The B-52's on their song ""Love Shack"" that same year. Over the next few years he released several albums including 2004's Reworked By RuPaul, 2006's ReWorked by RuPaul: The Remix Album, 2008's Champion, and 2015's Realness. In 2009, RuPaul began hosting the reality competition series RuPaul's Drag Race. The show features drag queens competing for the title of ""America's Next Drag Superstar"". The show has been a critical success and has been nominated for multiple Emmy Awards including Outstanding Reality-Competition Program.
