Who Is Syml?

Syml is the musical project of Seattle-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Brian Fennell. His intimate music combines elements of indie-pop, alternative rock, and classical music for a unique sound that is both personal and engaging. His debut album Hurt For Me was released in 2018, and he has since released two EPs, In My Body (2019) and Sanctuary (2020).

Early Career & Musical Influences

Fennell began his music career as the lead singer, songwriter, and guitarist for Seattle indie rock band Barcelona. He released three albums with the band before beginning his solo career as Syml in 2017. His music draws on a wide range of influences, including Peter Gabriel, Sia, Radiohead, Leonard Cohen, and Nick Drake.

Recent Projects & Collaborations

In 2019, Syml released the EP In My Body, which featured the single ""The Bird"". The track was featured in the soundtrack to Netflix's The Umbrella Academy series and was featured in an episode of Grey's Anatomy. In 2020, he released the EP Sanctuary, which featured guest appearances by Mree and RY X. He also collaborated with electronic producer Yotto on the single ""Black Stone"".
