Who is Talib Tale?

Talib Tale is an Azerbaijani singer, songwriter, and producer who has been making waves on the music scene since his first single release in 2004. His unique blend of modern pop, jazz, and traditional Azerbaijani music has earned him critical acclaim both inside and outside his native country. He has collaborated with many other acclaimed musicians including Aziza Mustafa Zadeh, Nigar Muharrem, and Yalın. Talib's music has been featured in various films and television shows. He is also an Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

Early Life

Talib was born on August 7th, 1988 in Baku, Azerbaijan. Growing up he was surrounded by music; his father was an avid collector of records from all over the world. At the age of 10 Talib began playing the piano and by 16 he was performing in local clubs as a keyboardist. He also attended music school where he learned to play the saxophone and flute.

Career

In 2004 Talib released his first single “Vur” which quickly became a hit in Azerbaijan. This success led to the release of his debut album “Vur” later that year. Since then he has released five more studio albums, two live albums and several singles. Talib has also collaborated with many other renowned artists including Aziza Mustafa Zadeh, Nigar Muharrem, and Yalın. His music has been featured in films such as The Butterfly Effect 2 (2006) and television shows like The O.C (2006). He is also an Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

Talib has released seven studio albums throughout his career: “Vur” (2004), “Yagish” (2006), “Qafas” (2008), “Ilahi” (2010), “Gizli Sirlar” (2012), “Ezizim” (2014) and “Ovcusu” (2017). He has also released two live albums: “Live at Baku Jazz Festival” (2006) and “Live at Tbilisi Jazz Festival” (2009). Talib has also appeared on several compilations such as “Azerbaijan-Turkey: One Nation – Two Voices” (2007), “The Best of Azerbaijani Jazz” (2008) and “Jazz Around the World – Azerbaijan” (2010).

Awards & Achievements

Talib has won numerous awards throughout his career including Best Male Singer at the Baku Music Awards (2006), Best Pop Album at the Baku Music Awards (2007), Best International Act at the Turkvision Song Contest (2013), Best Male Artist at the European Music Awards (2014) and Best International Artist at the Golden Stag Awards (2015). He was also nominated for Best Male Singer at the Baku Music Awards in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011.

Personal Life

Talib currently resides in Baku with his wife and two sons. In his free time he enjoys playing chess, reading books, watching movies and spending time with his family. Talib is also an active philanthropist; his charitable organization helps underprivileged children in Azerbaijan get access to education.
