The Rare Occasions is an indie rock band from Austin, Texas. Drawing on influences from classic rock to modern day indie-rock, the band has created a unique sound that is as captivating as the city they call home. The four-piece is comprised of Drew Walker (vocals/guitar), Justin Phelps (guitar), Nate Harold (drums) and Patrick Stanton (bass).
The Rare Occasions Music
Their music has been described as “a mix of classic and modern indie-rock with a unique twist.” The band’s sound is driven by Drew’s intricate guitar work, Justin’s melodic riffs, Nate’s dynamic drumming and Patrick’s solid bass lines. In addition to their creative instrumentation, the band is known for their thoughtful songwriting and lush vocal harmonies. The Rare Occasions have been likened to the likes of Wilco, Bright Eyes and The National.

The Rare Occasions have collaborated with some of the most talented musicians in Austin such as The Octopus Project, White Denim and Molly Burch. Their debut EP “Songs for the Late Night Drive Home” was released in 2017 to critical acclaim. In 2018, they were named one of the “Best New Bands” by Austin Monthly Magazine.
