TobyMac (born Toby McKeehan) is an American Christian rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. His biggest hits include “Made to Love” and “Me Without You”. TobyMac has won several awards including six Dove Awards and a Grammy for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for his album Eye on It. He has also been nominated for five Grammy Awards.

Early Life & Career

TobyMac was born on October 22, 1964 in Fairfax, Virginia to parents David and Marie McKeehan. His father was a pastor at a local church while his mother was a music teacher. Toby started taking piano lessons when he was 8 years old. He became a part of a gospel rap group called DC Talk when he was 17. The group released several albums and won several awards including three Grammys.

Solo Career

In 2001, TobyMac embarked on his solo career with the release of his debut album Momentum. The album featured the hit single “Extreme Days” which reached number one on the Christian charts. He went on to release several more albums including Welcome to Diverse City (2004), Portable Sounds (2007), Tonight (2010), and Eye on It (2012). His most recent album is This Is Not a Test (2015).

Personal Life

TobyMac married his wife Amanda in 1994 and they have five children together. He currently resides in Franklin, Tennessee with his family where he is involved with the local church.

In addition to his six Dove Awards, TobyMac has won numerous other awards including the ASCAP Songwriter of the Year Award (2013) and the Billboard Music Award for Top Christian Artist (2014). He has also been nominated for five Grammy Awards.
