Tommy Emmanuel is an Australian fingerstyle guitarist and songwriter known for his complex fingerpicking style and energetic performances. Early Life
Tommy Emmanuel was born in 1955 in Muswellbrook, New South Wales. He grew up in a musical family where his father taught him to play the steel guitar at age 4. By age 6, he was performing professionally on Australian television. He started playing guitar at age 11 and in the years that followed, developed a unique fingerpicking style of playing that combined his passion for blues and jazz with his classical training.

In 1976, Emmanuel joined the group The Southern Star Band and went on to tour extensively throughout Australia.
