Veronica Maggio is a Swedish singer and songwriter from Uppsala, Sweden. She was born on April 13, 1983, and first gained recognition when she released her debut album Motto in 2008. Since then, she has released five additional albums which all reached the top of the Swedish charts. Her most recent album, Fiender är tråkigt, was released in 2018.

The Early Years

Maggio began her music career as a backing vocalist for the Swedish band Kent in 2003. After working with Kent for several years, she released her first solo single “Dumpa mig” in 2007. The single was an immediate success, reaching the top 10 in Sweden. This success led to her signing a record deal with Universal Music Group Sweden, who subsequently released her debut album Motto in 2008.

Music Career

Maggio has released six studio albums over the course of her career. Her debut album Motto was certified gold in Sweden and reached #1 on the Swedish Albums Chart. Her follow-up album Och vinnaren är... (2009) was also certified gold and reached #1 on the Swedish Albums Chart. Her third album Satan i gatan (2011) was certified platinum and peaked at #1 on the Swedish Albums Chart. Her fourth album Handen i fickan fast jag bryr mig (2013) was certified gold and peaked at #3 on the Swedish Albums Chart. Her fifth album Varmdans (2015) was certified gold and peaked at #1 on the Swedish Albums Chart. Her sixth album Fiender är tråkigt (2018) was certified gold and peaked at #2 on the Swedish Albums Chart.

Awards & Accomplishments

Maggio has achieved numerous awards and accolades throughout her career. She has won four Grammis Awards – the highest accolade for recorded music in Sweden – for Best Female Artist (2009), Best Pop/Rock Artist (2013), Best Pop/Rock Song (“Jag Kommer” 2013), and Best Music Video (“Jag Kommer” 2013). In addition, she has been nominated for two MTV Europe Music Awards for Best Nordic Act (2009, 2011).

Personal Life

Maggio is married to fellow musician Pelle Alsing, with whom she has two children. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, playing guitar, and reading books.
