VITAS (born Vitaliy Vladasovich Grachyov in 1975) is a Russian singer, songwriter and actor, best known for his powerful operatic vocals and high-pitched vocals. He has released 11 albums and gained an international following for his live performances. VITAS has also acted in films, television shows and theatre productions.

Early Life & Career

VITAS was born in Daugavpils, Latvia in 1975. He began singing at an early age and was accepted into the Moscow State Academy of Choral Singing where he studied opera music. After graduating in 1999, he started performing both classical and pop music. His first debut album, 7th Element (2001), was an instant success, becoming the fastest-selling album in Russia’s history. In 2003, VITAS released his second album A Kiss for the Ocean, which gained him international recognition.

Achievements

Throughout his career, VITAS has won numerous awards including three World Music Awards, two MTV Europe Music Awards, two World Music Video Awards and two Golden Gramophone Awards. He has also performed at the opening ceremony of the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics.

Collaborations & Featurings

VITAS has collaborated with other artists such as Russian singer Valeriya and composer Igor Krutoy. He also featured on Chinese singer Zhang Liyin's debut album Timeless in 2006.
