Who Is Ycee?

Ycee is a Nigerian hip hop recording artist and songwriter. He is best known for his singles such as 'Juice', 'Link Up', and 'Condo'. He also featured in other songs such as 'Komije' with Mayorkun, 'Balance' with Maleek Berry and Ms Banks. In 2017, he released his debut EP titled 'The First Wave'.

Early Life and Career Beginnings

Ycee was born Oludemilade Martin Alejo on January 29, 1993 in Lagos, Nigeria. He was drawn to music from a young age, citing the likes of 2Pac, Nas and Notorious B.I.G. as major influences. In 2013, Ycee released his first single titled 'Condo'. The track quickly gained traction and helped him rise to prominence in the Nigerian music scene. He then signed with Tinny Entertainment in 2015.

Commercial Success

In 2016, Ycee released his first major hit single 'Juice'. The track became an instant success, peaking at number 5 on the Billboard World Digital Songs chart. It also won him an award for Best Street Hop at the 2016 Headies Awards. He followed up with the release of the EP 'The First Wave' in 2017. The EP featured tracks like 'Link Up', 'Say Bye Bye', and 'Vacancy'.

Recent Projects

In 2018, Ycee released his second EP titled 'Late Night Vibrations'. The project featured six tracks including 'My Side', 'Kana', and 'Balance'. He also featured on Davido's single 'Amaka' later that year. In 2019, Ycee released the single 'Dakun' which was followed by the single 'Baseline' in 2020.
